their aptitude most Fidai Girls go through additional
courses such as home science, beautician, mehendi
application, computer orientation, secretarial
practice and personality development. The girls
can bank on these variety of skills with confidence
for income generation and social advancement when
they go back to join their families.
Fidai children are encouraged to learn arts and
crafts. They regularly participate in the National
Cadet Corps (NCC) Camps and activities of Scout
and Guides. Judo is a part of the training at
the Fidai schools at Andheri. Yoga classes are
organised during vacations for the girls who remain
on campus during vacations. There is a modern
library at Andheri with a comprehensive collection
of books for the use of students, their parents
and the faculty. All the members of Kandi Maholla
Ismailia Students' Library are allowed to use
this new library at Andheri.
Celebrations: Republic Day on 26th January and
Independence Day on 15th August are colourful
annual events on Fidai grounds. Students, teachers,
parents and well-wishers all gather in large numbers
to witness the flag hoisting, the march-past,
the variety of cultural programmes and the prize
giving to meritorious students.
On one Sunday every month a fun-filled party is
organized to jointly celebrate the birthdays of
all the children born during that month.
The wedding of a Fidai girl provides another occasion
for the festivities at Andheri when the girls
dress up in their best clothes and make merry
playing dandiya raas and garba.
